Archaeology meeting set in Grand Island
The Nebraska Archaeological Society will host a quarterly meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Cronin Room at Stuhr Museum, 3313 W, Highway 34.
Nancy Fairbanks of Grand Island will be the featured guest speaker. She is an expert on Native American pottery from the Great Plains region. Her presentation will focus on the construction, design and firing techniques of this link to Nebraska's past.
Those attending are encouraged to bring Nebraska pottery examples for identification and discussion. All NAS meetings are open to the general public.
Emergency Medical Services workshop in G.I.
The Emergency Medical Services Program of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will offer a workshop on "Respiratory Emergencies" for emergency medical technicians and first responders from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Feb. 11 at Saint Francis Memorial Building.

Health Fair, Home and Garden Show coming to Aurora
Hamilton County's annual Health Fair and Home and Garden Show will be held Feb. 9-10 at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds.
The Health Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the fairgrounds' Ag Building. It is sponsored by Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
It includes blood pressure checks, vision, breast cancer, bone densitometry and carpal tunnel screening, body composition analysis, children's ID and a variety of exhibitors' booths.
The Home and Garden Show will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the fairgrounds' Farr Building. It is sponsored by the Hamilton County Ag Society.
The show includes more than 95 booths displaying various aspects of the home and garden as well as outdoor living.

Ravenna to host Valentine's Carnival Saturday
Good Samaritan Society and Little Angels Childcare Center in Ravenna is sponsoring a Valentine's Carnival from 11 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ravenna City Auditorium.
The carnival will feature games for children, food, prizes and a silent auction; as well as a Jump-A-Roo sponsored by Town and Country bank.
Proceeds from the event go toward summer activities and outdoor improvements to Little Angels. For more information about this event, call Joy Kyhn, Little Angels director, at (308) 452-3321.
