Being a better leader and making contacts with others in law enforcement are the two biggest things Todd Bahensky brought back from the FBI Training Academy at Quantico, Va.
The Hall County sheriff's captain graduated from the 11 weeks of training on Dec. 14, 2007, and returned to work in the new Law Enforcement Center shortly thereafter.
He took classes on leadership, media relations and stress management, among other things.
"I was really, really impressed," he said.
The graduate-level courses are taught by people with PhDs and the topics ranged from dealing with change to understanding human dynamics.
"I learned how people respond to different approaches," he said.
The knowledge will assist Bahensky in his supervisor role at the Sheriff's Department, as well as with interviews and dealing with suspects.
His favorite course was on human behavior in organizations.
It dealt with leading people through changes, how to treat different people and how to motivate a staff.
