Central Community College has set March 1 as its deadline for new and returning students who want to apply for scholarships for the 2008-09 academic year.
Students are encouraged to apply online at www.cccneb.edu.
Click on "Financial Aid" under "Quick Links" and then on "Apply for Scholarships." Those who are unable to apply online may get an application form from their high school counselor; from the CCC financial aid offices in Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings; or from CCC's Holdrege, Kearney and Lexington centers.
Students who are interested in federal financial aid for the 2008-09 academic year also need to make plans to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Students will use their individual and family income tax returns to complete the FAFSA's income sections.
During 2006-07, CCC students received $10.7 million in financial assistance from all funding sources, including $1,226,666 in institutional and external scholarships. During that year, 3,628 students received an average financial aid award of $2,946, including loans.
For more information, contact the financial aid offices at the Columbus Campus, (402) 562-1290; at the Grand Island Campus, 398-7409; or at the Hastings Campus, (402) 461-2413. Individuals living in Nebraska can call the college toll-free at (877) 222-0780.
