Jennifer and Jake Soto
Jennifer Ferguson and Jake Soto were united in marriage June 23, 2007, at the Stuhr Museum Hornady Family Arboretum in Grand Island. The Ordained Jim Goodman officiated.
Doug and Margaret Ferguson of Grand Island are parents of the bride. Parents of the groom are Lupe Soto of Eugene, Ore., and Donna Sharp of St. Libory.
Bridesmaids were Angi Rork and Lori Kruse.
Fred Goodman and Tim Husen were groomsmen. Ushering guests were Daniel Ferguson, brother of the bride, and Ben Hardesty, the groom's brother-in-law.
Flower girls were Simone, Maleka and Sharaya Soto. Karen Scarborough was guest book attendant.
Special guests were the bride's grandparents, Erma Mueller and Elva and Lowell Kohtz, all of Grand Island, and grandparents of the groom, Jean Snell of North Platte, and Bruno and Joyce Schlueter of Valentine.
Others who helped in the celebration were Melissa Hardesty, the groom's sister; Christina Webb, cousin of the bride; and Victoria Webb, Cathy Nickerson, Barbara Cripps and Samuel and Suzie Mueller, aunts and uncle of the bride.
A reception at the Isaak Walton League Park followed the ceremony. After a North American road wedding trip, the couple live in Portland, Ore.
The bride graduated from Grand Island Northwest High in 1999. She attended the anthropology program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She graduated from the Academy of Scottish Herbalism at Eugene, Ore., in 2004. She works for Earth Mama Angel Baby as a quality control expert for women's and children's herbal and natural products.
The groom is a 1998 graduate of Grand Island Senior High. He attended the Southeast Community College at Lincoln drafting program and Lane Community College at Eugene. He is a renewable energy engineering student at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Portland.
The couple are proud parents of their homebirthed four-year old daughter, Simone.
The bride is the granddaughter of the late Raymond Mueller Sr. and William Ferguson and the niece of the late David Ferguson. The groom is the stepson of the late Doug Sharp and the grandson of the late Joe and Benita Soto and Sam Snell.
