Pelini, Osborne to speak Feb. 21 in G.I.
New Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini and Athletic Director Tom Osborne will be speaking at the Central Nebraska Big Red Luncheon Feb. 21 at the Heartland Events Center. The event begins at 11:30 am in the Eihusen Arena and proceeds from the event will go to support the Football Program/Recruiting at UNL.
The event will include lunch, messages from Osborne and Pelini, as well as the opportunity to view the coaching staff's highlight video of their first recruiting class. In addition, the new Husker football staff will be in attendance.
Pelini, hired by Osborne on Dec. 2, 2007, comes to Nebraska after finishing an impressive three-year stint as the defensive coordinator at Louisiana State. During his tenure on head coach Les Miles' staff, Pelini's defense helped the Tigers compile a 34-6 record in that span. This past season, the Tigers were BCS National Champions after a victory over Ohio State. Pelini was the defensive coordinator for the Huskers in 2004 when they compiled their last 10-win season and served as interim head coach for Nebraska's 17-3 Alamo Bowl victory over Michigan State.
Hall of Fame and three-time national champion football coach Tom Osborne assumed the role of Nebraska's Interim Athletic Director on Oct. 16, 2007. He was named to the position full-time on Dec. 19. Osborne, a Hastings native who has served Nebraska in the U.S. House of Representatives, is one of the winningest college football coaches of all time with 255 victories in 25 seasons at Nebraska.
