LINCOLN ‹ IMG College and the Husker Sports Network announced today that Greg Sharpe has been named the play-by-play announcer for the University of Nebraska football and baseball broadcasts. Sharpe will begin his duties on Thursday, Feb. 7 as the emcee for the University of Nebraska Football Recruiting Dinner in Lincoln and will begin his baseball play-by-play duties with the first game of the season on February 22 at Stanford.

"Greg possesses a wealth of knowledge of Husker Sports and has an outstanding reputation as a professional broadcaster. He will be a great addition to our network."
In addition to his duties as the play-by-play voice of Husker football and baseball, Sharpe will continue to serve as the play-by-play announcer for men's and women's basketball on Fox Sports Net. He will also host the football and baseball coaches TV shows, appear on Sports Nightly, and host various functions throughout the year. He will also serve as an account executive in the sales operation of the Husker Sports Network.
Sharpe has been active with University of Nebraska athletics since 2003, serving as the play-by-play voice of the Husker Pay-Per-View football games, Husker men's and women's basketball games on Fox Sports Net, and Husker baseball on Cox Cable. He was the play-by-play radio announcer for the final three football games of the 2007 season and has hosted the Bo Pelini Television Show since November, 2007. He was also the play-by-play announcer for the Nebraska Spring Game on the NFL Network in April, 2007.

Sharpe, a two-time Kansas Sportscaster of the Year, brings a strong background of broadcast and sales experience to the Husker Sports Network. He was the play-by-play voice of the Kansas State Wildcats from 1996-2002, while also serving as the Sales Manager for the Wildcat Radio Network. At Kansas State he was the play-by-play announcer for football and basketball and filled in during several baseball broadcasts. He also hosted the football and basketball coaches television shows and the weekly radio coaches programs.
Sharpe joins the Husker Sports Network after spending the last 21 years at WIBW AM/FM/TV and the Kansas Radio Networks in Topeka, Kan. He most recently has served as the Director of Operations at WIBW AM-FM, where he has overseen a staff of 52, making programming decisions and assisting with sales accounts, marketing efforts and station promotions. In addition to his duties as Director of Operations, Sharpe has hosted a daily afternoon sports talk radio show.
Sharpe, a native of Olathe, Kan., has also worked for Westwood One, providing radio play-by-play of the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Sharpe and his wife, Amy, both have ties to the State of Nebraska. His mother graduated from the University of Nebraska, while Amy's brother was born in Omaha. Greg and Amy plan on residing in Lincoln with their daughters, Emily and Campbell.
