A total of 114 pounds of marijuana has been seized in three separate traffic stops on Interstate 80 between Grand Island and Lincoln.

At about 2:30 p.m. Monday, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper stopped an eastbound 2008 Dodge Avenger with Illinois license plates for following too close in Lancaster County. The trooper received consent to search the car and found 106 pounds of marijuana in luggage in the trunk, according to a press release from the patrol.

The release also gave the following information:

The driver, Keona Williams, 30, of Warren, Mich., and a passenger, Nicole Smith, 30, of Detroit, were arrested.

Two separate traffic stops in Hall County on Saturday resulted in the seizure of nearly 8 pounds of marijuana.

At about 8:20 a.m. Saturday, a trooper stopped a 1993 Infinity with California plates. Consent to search the car was given to the trooper and a little more than 3 pounds of marijuana was found in luggage in the trunk.

The driver, Jonathon Nierengarten, 25, of San Francisco, is being held in the Hall County Jail for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and not having a drug tax stamp

Shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, a trooper stopped a 2008 Ford rental van with California plates. A Hall County Sheriff's Department canine indicated an odor of drugs was coming from the vehicle.

A search of the van led to the seizure of 4.5 pounds of marijuana in luggage in the rear portion of the van.

The driver, Justin Brooks, 31, of Calistoga, Calif., was taken to the Hall County Jail. He is charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and not having a drug tax stamp.
