The City of Grand Island has lifted the snow emergency as of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5. City crews will start plowing snow in residential areas at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The Public Works Department anticipates that all residential streets will be cleared before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

Residents are reminded that snowplows may throw snow onto curb sidewalks and are therefore asked not to shovel curb sidewalks until the streets have been cleared of snow. Residents are encouraged to assist with snow removal efforts by moving parked vehicles off the street where possible.

The patience and cooperation of the residents in the community will help the Streets Division employees to complete their work more quickly and efficiently.
