A Palmer photographer won the Best of Show award in the Prairie Winds Art Center's annual photography competition and show.
Amy McIntosh was honored for her photo, "Frosted Sunflower."
"Treetop Angel" by Kathy Shogren of Assiria, Kan., was named as the runner-up; and "Horse Trainer" by John Evasco of Lincoln won the merit award.
Honorable mentions went to "Life Is Just ," Shogren; "Iris and Peonies" by Linda Knepp of North Platte and "Foggy Sunrise" by Bob Rooney of Brewster.
Purchase awards went to "Autumnal" by Camilla Roark of Kearney (Jan Wiemers); "Salema Beach" by Camilla Roark (Jack Henry Jr); "Cattail at Summer's End" by Ron Boerner of North Platte (Eric Stewart); "Life is Just ," Shogren ( Don Ryan); and "Frosted Sunflowerm" McIntosh (Libby Henry).
Also included in the competitions were entries from the High Ability Learners of Grand Island middle schools.
"Guidance" by Riley Menagh of Barr Middle School, was named the Best of Show. "Dancing the Night Away" by Christina Varek of Walnut Middle School, was named the runner-up. "Reflections" by Miranda Wieczorek of Walnut Middle School, won the merit award.
Honorable mentions went to "Midnight Bloom," by Michael McElligott of Barr Middle School; "Lonesome on the Railroad," by Samantha Mason, Barr; and "A Lot on My Mind" by Tiffany Orcutt, Barr;
Entries from across the nation will be on display at Prairie Winds through February. The HAL exhibit is featured in the center's Sky Winds Gallery.
