GOLDEN, Colo. Junior guard Kyle Pape scored 26 points, and senior forward Ben Mohr added 25 and missed only one shot from the field, to lead the Colorado School of Mines men's basketball team to an 86-79 win over Nebraska-Kearney Friday night in Golden, Colo.

Mines (12-12, 5-9 RMAC) won its third in a row and stops the Lopers (12-11, 10-5 RMAC) five game win streak. The contest marked UNK's first trip to the Orediggers' new Lockridge Arena.

For the Lopers, all five starters were in double figures, led by freshman guard Garrett Lever (Phoenix) with 20. He went 10 of 10 at the line and made five shots from the floor.

Nick Branting is believed to hold the school record for free-throw percentage in a game as he went 12 of 12 at the line in Dec. 2001 at Fort Lewis.

Beranek and Parker each tallied 16 points on the night and combined to pull down 14 rebounds.

UNK women get 20th win of season

GOLDEN, Colo. Senior Amy Mathis scored 18 points, and two other starters reached double digits, to help the Nebraska-Kearney women's basketball team beat Colorado School of Mines, 63-48, Friday night in Golden, Colo.

UNK (20-5, 13-2 RMAC) will remain in sole possession of first place in the East Division while the Orediggers (10-14, 5-9 RMAC) lost for the third straight time.

This marks the third straight year, and the 15th time in school history, a Loper women's team has reached the 20 win mark. UNK has now reached 20 wins in 12 of the last 13 years. During this 13 year stretch (included this season), UNK's overall record is 307-81.
