The Central Nebraska Council on Alcoholism and Additions will host Jeff VanVonderen, a featured interventionist on the Arts and Entertainment Network's documentary series, "Intervention," for two days of workshops April 3 and 4.
The workshops will be at the Evangelical Free Church, 2609 S. Blaine St., and will focus on addiction, recovery and intervention.
VanVonderen is a nationally and internationally known speaker and consultant who has worked as a counselor in residential inpatient and outpatient treatment settings as well as in the religious community.
He has assisted individuals, families and organizations in the areas of addiction, recovery and family systems for more than 25 years.
A daylong workshop April 3 will focus on addiction, codependency and the family, while an evening clinic will discuss overcoming shame in recovery. On April 4, VanVonderen will talk about intervention strategies.
Those encouraged to attend include substance abuse and chemical dependency professionals, social workers, mental health practitioners, professional counselors, probation and parole officers, community corrections professionals, court referral officers, drug court professionals, juvenile justice professionals, school personnel, health care providers, Christian counselors, faith community members, human service professionals and concerned family and friends.
Professionals and nurses can receive continuing education hours for the workshops.
