Three stops in five days in Buffalo and Hall counties led to the seizure of 76 pounds of marijuana and the arrests of four people.
A press release from the Nebraska State Patrol gave the following information:
During the early morning hours Monday, a Nebraska State Patrol trooper stopped an eastbound 1999 Ford with Minnesota plates for speeding on Interstate 80 in Buffalo County. During the stop, the trooper detected the odor of marijuana and found 5 pounds of marijuana hidden in luggage in the vehicle's trunk.
The driver, Bruce Wischneak, 37, of Detroit Lakes, Minn., was taken to the Buffalo County Detention Center for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
On Sunday, a trooper stopped an eastbound 1986 Toyota pickup with California plates for speeding and having a headlight out. The stop took place at about 6:17 p.m. on I-80 in Buffalo County. A patrol canine indicated the odor of drugs coming from the vehicle and 30 pounds of marijuana was found in a canvas bag in the pickup bed.
The driver, Richard Pillesky, 33, of Laytonville, Calif., and a passenger, Amanda Knodle, 24, of Willits, Calif., were each taken to the Buffalo County Detention Center for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
A traffic stop Wednesday on the eastbound Grand Island I-80 off-ramp led to the discovery of 41 pounds of marijuana.
The stop occurred at 3:12 p.m., and involved a 2008 Chevrolet with California plates. A patrol canine indicated an odor of drugs and marijuana was discovered in suitcases in the trunk of the vehicle.
The driver, Clint Kirby, 39, of Gonzalez, Calif., was lodged in the Hall County Jail for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
