CENTRAL CITY Nebraska Christian (4-15) scored 28 second half points to roar back from a four-point halftime deficit to defeat Heartland Lutheran 43-35 in first round action of the Class D-1, Subdistrict 5 tournament.
The Eagles used strong defense in the third quarter to outscore the Red Hornets 11-3 and take a 26-22 lead into the fourth quarter.
Chrissy Ritta led the Eagles with a game-high 15 points, while Loy Griess added 12.
Heartland Lutheran was led by Keri Rollen with nine points, while Sarah Scholz added eight.
The Red Hornets completed their season with a record of 4-15.
Nebraska Christian advances to play top-seeded Osceola today at 6 p.m.
