Sing Around Nebraska, a festival event for fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students sponsored by the Nebraska Choral Director's Association with performances in 12 sites around the state either Saturday or Feb. 23. More than 1,700 students will participate.
Central Nebraska students will take part in day-long clinics in Central City and Kearney with final concerts in the late afternoon.
The Central City performance will feature more than 230 students from Aurora Elementary, Barr Middle School, Central City Elementary and Middle School, Chapman, Doniphan-Trumbull, Engleman Elementary, Gates Elementary, Giltner, Grand Island Central Catholic, Hampton, Heartland Community, Howard Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Nebraska Christian, North Loup-Scotia, Palmer, Seedling Mile Elementary, Shoemaker Elementary, St. Michael's Elementary, St. Paul, Starr Elementary, Stolley Park Elementary, Sutton, Trinity Lutheran, Walnut Middle School, Wasmer Elementary, West Lawn Elementary and Westridge Middle School. Performance time is 4 p.m. in the Central City Middle School gym.
Taking part in the Kearney clinic and concert will be more than 170 students from Ansley, Broken Bow, Centura, Gibbon, Kearney, Loup City, Minden, Pleasanton, Ravenna, S-E-M and Wood River. Performance time is 4 p.m. at the Merryman Performing Arts Center, 225 W. 22nd.
Admission to either concert is $3 for adults and students 12 and over; children 11 and under will be admitted free.
