A Grand Island woman was sentenced to a year and a day in federal prison for using a false ID to get a job at Swift & Co.

Alba Lima-Rivera, 27, was convicted of the fraudulent use of a social security number. She is a citizen of Guatemala who unlawfully entered the United States and gained employment at Swift in Grand Island, according to a press release from U.S. District Attorney Joe Stecher.

Stecher's office also gave the following information:

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided the Swift plant on Dec. 12, 2006, and arrested 261 illegal immigrants. During a subsequent investigation, Lima-Rivera was arrested at Swift in January 2007.

She was indicted by a federal grand jury in January 2007 and pleaded guilty in May 2007.

In addition to her prison sentence, Lima-Rivera had to forfeit her $1,000 bond when she failed to appear for sentencing on July 24, 2007.
