ST. PAUL Spencer Fahey netted 19 points and Sam Bolton added 15 as Class C-2 No. 4-rated (Omaha World-Herald) Grand Island Central Catholic defeated St. Paul 48-35.
"We really did a nice job attacking St. Paul offensively," GICC coach Bill Gavers said. "We were able to move the ball and get some nice inside-outside looks to Spencer and Sam."
Gavers was also happy with his defense, especially the play of senior Lucas Wagoner.
"Lucas did a great job on Brett Wells," Gavers said. "To hold a good offensive player like Brett to five points is really outstanding."
Gavers was happy to have a chance to play a tough team on the road so close to postseason play.
"Winning away from your home gym this time of the season, especially against a good team is really good for you. This was a real complete game for us," Gavers said.
Louis Poss paced the Wildcats (15-4) with 10 points.
The Crusaders are back in action tonight as they travel to Wood River for a 7:45 tip-off against the Eagles.
