In honor of Fern Kunze's upcoming 80th birthday, the family celebrated with a dinner at the Saddle Club in Grand Island.

Fern was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Wolbach to Tim and Lola Silk.

Her family includes her husband Max; two daughters and their husbands, Carolyn and Alan Wieck of Omaha and Jan and Jake Jakob of Grand Island, and one son, Mike Kunze, also of Grand Island. She has six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
