KEARNEY Indiana survived a wild third period which saw each team score three times to post a 6-4 win over Tri-City on Saturday.

The East Division leading Ice held a 3-1 entering the final period, but Tri-City tied it up when Diederick Hagemeijer and Pierre Paul Lamoureux scored 15 seconds apart. It was the second goal of the season for each player.

The Ice retook the lead for good on Nick Ballen's power-play goal at 5:46 and went up 5-3 when Gregory Squires scored at 9:45, just nine seconds after he got out of the penalty box.

Troy Mattila's shorthanded goal pulled Tri-City within 5-4 at 15:22, but Paul Carey's empty-netter clinched the win with 27 seconds remaining.

The Storm, which lost its sixth straight game, hosts Waterloo Monday in a 1:05 p.m. matinee game.
