Eight older horses were nominated for Saturday's four furlong Grasmick Stakes at Fonner Park, including three-time and defending champion Tonight Rainbow.
The nine-year-old Tonight Rainbow, owned and trained by Boyd Caster, has a lifetime bankroll of $270,231 won. Tonight Rainbow has scored 11 times at Fonner including seven stakes wins.
The Rainbow, has he's affectionately named by his fans, has previously captured the race in 2004, 2006, and 2007.
Two nominated horses have already captured wins at Fonner Park this season, as Aaron Swan's Pager trained by Gilbert W. Ecoffey, Jr. and Crafty Brent owned by Rushton Farms and trained by Temple Rushton both scored wins on opening weekend.
Pager won the feature race on opening day, a four furlong event for $15,000 claimers, while Crafty Brent scored on Sunday in a four furlong starter allowance race.
Rounding out the nominations are, Cosgrove, owned by Robert Jackson and trained by Rod Jackson; DD Dot Comm owned and trained by William Owens; the Marvin Johnson owned and trained Did; First Class Brass owned by the M-L-H Stable and trained by Kelli Martinez; and another Rushton trainee, Apache General, owned by Edward Kidneigh and Fred Morgheim.
All horses have been assigned 117 pounds.
