The Grand Island City Council will hear an update Tuesday night by the Grand Island downtown improvement board on projects the downtown has completed and hopes to complete.
The council has a study session that begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 100 E. First St.
The downtown improvement board has a five-year life and is currently preparing its re-creation documents for the next five years.
Downtown leaders reportedly want an idea of what city-partnered projects can be reasonably completed within the next five years.
Projects already in the works include a grant program with the Community Redevelopment Authority (CRA) to support fire-sprinkler and fire escape installation in downtown buildings.
The city and CRA are also working on a quiet zone project to reduce train noise in the downtown.
Downtown Improvement Board President Matthew Armstrong was not available Monday for further comment.
During the study session, the city council will also hear audit reports for the Electric Department, Water Department and the overall city finances.
