G.I. woman sentenced on federal drug charge
A 30-year-old Grand Island woman has been sentenced to federal prison for distributing methamphetamine.
Maria Dawn Cross was sentenced in U.S. District Court to one to five years in prison for distributing meth in the Hall County area, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Joe Stecher.
The release also gave the following information:
On April 17, 2007, Cross sold an ounce of meth to a person cooperating with law enforcement. The sale occurred at Cross' residence.
In addition to her prison sentence, Cross must pay $1,600 restitution, serve five years of supervised release following her prison term and pay a $100 special assessment.
Ultra-light flying club to meet tonight
The Husker Ultra-light Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Grand Island Library, 211 N. Washington St.
The club will discuss all types of recreational flying, new rules and flight training. Anyone interested in small aircraft may attend the meeting.

Nebraska Christian Schools has rescheduled its Campus Preview Day to run from 8:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. this Friday.
All interested parents and their students entering grades 1-12 are invited to attend this day. A complimentary noon meal is also available.
