GILTNER < Fundraiser organizers everywhere are looking for the perfect hook that one irresistible thing that draws almost anyone.

Giltner has found it: chocolate.

The Giltner Area Development Corp. on Saturday will host its third annual Chocolate Lover's Heaven, an all-you-can-eat showcase of the most delectable delicacies Giltner's cooks can dream up.

"I've been calling it a chocolate prom," said Jane Reeson, a volunteer with the group that's helping organize the event.

The money raised at the event will go to the Giltner Alumni Community Foundation. Right now, that group's chief project is the nearly finished Giltner Community Center.

But Reeson said in a small town with its own school district, there's always a larger purpose.

"Everything we do is to support our school and make Giltner a better community to live in," she said.

The event was born after a group of Giltner residents went to a similar fundraiser in Lincoln. They knew that was something Giltner could replicate, Reeson said.

And this Saturday, it will be enticing visitors with such tasty treats as white chocolate cheesecake, cinnamon doughnut holes with Mexican chocolate fondue and a hot cocoa bar with marshmallows and sprinkles.

"It's kind of become a challenge to see who can do the most unique thing," said Reeson, who's bringing the fondue doughnut holes.

The event will also include a silent auction and the guitar and dulcimer music of Paul Seibert of Henderson. And several community groups are hosting an open house at the school from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

And if you aren't a big chocolate fan, don't get too worried. Not everything is of the triple deluxe ooey-gooey fudge variety, Reeson said.

"If it just has a little chocolate, that's the fun of it," she said.
