How You Live conference at Abundant Life

Abundant Life Christian Center is showing the How You Live National Conference for girls in grades six through 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The How You Live conference will be live via satellite and is presented by Girls of Grace and other motivational speakers. It will provide valuable life lessons to girls. Tickets are $15.

GISH hosting show choir competition

The Grand Island Senior High Show Choir will be hosting its annual Islander Invitational Show Choir Competition Saturday.

There will be a total of 24 show choirs from 17 schools competing. The varsity competition begins at 9:15 a.m. in the main auditorium and the prep competition begins at 10:30 a.m. in the east gymnasium.

The three show choirs from GISH Islander Prestige, Islander Protege and Islander Entourage will be performing their shows in exhibition.

The public is invited to attend, with admission being $10 per person, which is good for the day competition as well as the finals, which begin at 7 p.m.

Show choirs from across the state, as well as from South Dakota and Iowa, will be performing. Show choirs performing from Central Nebraska include Northwest, Central Catholic, Central City and Kearney.

Cedar River hunters to host banquet

The Cedar River Ringnecks hunting club will hold its fifth annual banquet on Saturday at the Sacred Heart gym in Greeley.

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a social gathering, games and a silent auction. A dinner of hot roast beef and chicken with trimmings will be at 7. Following the dinner will be a live auction and raffles.

Prizes include framed prints, guns, TVs, gift certificates and a Texas quail hunt.

Admission is $40 for a membership dinner with $10 each for spouse and children.

Funds raised from the event go to help restore pheasant, quail and other wildlife habitat and to help educate youths about hunting.
