Lynn Werner, 717 S. Harrison St., has filed for the Grand Island school board, while Tim Victor, 4228 Springview Drive, has filed to be on the Northwest school board and Char Kruse, 4217 Texas Ave., has filed to be an advisory board member to the Northwest board.

Werner also has filed to be on the Hall County Airport Authority. She was first appointed to a seat on the authority to fill the unexpired term term of Doyle Hulme.

Werner, 43, noted that she has children in the Grand Island schools. She said one of her big interests is children's education and the other is aviation.

She said Susan Bullington, who had served on the Grand Island school board for eight years, has done a good job. However, when Bullington decided not to run for re-election, Werner said, she decided that it was a good time to file for office.

Werner said that the Hall County Airport Authority has been involved in a lot of issues and she would like to continue to be on the board to work on them.

Victor, 50, had served on the Northwest High School board for four years, from 2002 to 2006, but was defeated for re-election. He had previously served on the Cedar Hollow Elementary school board for six years.

Victor said he has remained interested in educational issues and would once again like to be part of the board for Northwest, which he feels does a good job in educating students.

Kruse, 55, is seeking her third term as an advisory board member. She said she is seeking re-election because "I want to continue to represent the very large number of students who live in the city limits west of Highway 281 and attend their neighborhood schools."

She noted that students in the area of town she represents attend Northwest as a neighborhood school as option enrollment students.

Kruse said she wants to see that students in the area continue to attend Northwest, where they receive "a high quality education."
