Grand Island Area Economic Development Corp. sets annual meeting
Grand Island Area Economic Development Corp. will be hosting its annual meeting at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mid-Town Holiday Inn.
Tony Raimondo will be guest speaker. He is the chairman of Behlen Manufacturing Co. and is a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate. Raimondo's presentation is titled "Dream It Do It."
Raimondo has spent the majority of his career in corporations, including General Motors; Moog Inc., an aerospace company; and Vickers, a hydraulic products manufacturing operation in Omaha.
He has been active in a variety of organizations and is the chairman of the Economic Development Council. He has a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan Technology University and a master of business administration degree from the University of Rochester.
During the meeting, the economic development corporation will be recognizing the past chairman, Harry Hoch, and Kurt Haecker as outgoing trustees.
Each year the EDC honors area individuals and/or industry/organizations for their contributions to the community. This year's honorees are Case IH, for its continued growth and expansion of the Grand Island facility and its employees' commitment to support the community; St. Francis Medical Center for its community partnership and commitment to build the new patient tower; and Sen. Ray Aguilar, for his leadership and commitment to the community of Grand Island.
