Blake Rattlenroll from the Bill Isburg barn lived up to his name as he rattled out of the gate and rolled to a three-length win in Fonner Park's $9,500 feature race Sunday.

The 6-year old gelding ridden capably by Jerry Carkeek broke in front, opened up a two-length lead on the backstretch and put away a challenge by runner up Toubeeb to win the six furlong affair in 1:13:20.

"I was very confident in this animal," Carkeek said. "He's a real nice horse that always runs well for me."

Isburg was not surprised his horse was in front or that he won, but he was afraid he might be a little short.

"We just had one workout in him before the race," Isburg said. "I knew he'd go to the front, but I wasn't sure if he could last the trip."

Blake Rattlenroll has turned out to be a good purchase for Isburg.

"We bought him off of Dennis Good after the Woodlands meet in 2006," Isburg said. "We won three with him last year and now got one right away this year."

The third choice in the wagering, Blake Rattlenroll returned $10.20 to win.

Isburg wasn't sure where to point Blake Rattlenroll next.

"We'll look to see where he fits in later in the meet," Isburg said.
