A Grand Island man was indicted Thursday in Missouri on a federal child pornography charge.

Aaron Prather, 45, was charged in U.S. District Court in St. Louis with one felony count of transportation of child pornography, according to the U.S. attorney's office for the eastern district of Missouri.

The indictment, returned by a federal grand jury in St. Louis, alleges that Prather sent child pornography over the Internet from Grand Island to Adair County, Mo., between April 6 and May 17.

Prather was charged in Hall County Court in November with one count of possession of a visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct.

In that case, Prather was alleged to have sent an e-mail containing child pornography on Nov. 6 to a person he apparently believed was a 13-year-old boy. Prather had actually been communicating with a police officer from Kirksville, Mo., according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

Prather pleaded not guilty to that charge in December, and it was dismissed from Hall County District Court on Thursday.

Prather was taken to Missouri from Nebraska this week by the Kirksville Police Department and agents of the Kirksville office of the FBI, according to a news release from the U.S. attorney's office.

If convicted of the new charge, he faces five to 20 years in prison.
