Heather Jeannette Gomes of Cambridge, Mass., and Mac Thomas McLaughlin of Providence, R.I., will be joined in matrimony April 5, 2008, at St. Cecilia Cathedral in Omaha.

Parents of the bride-elect are William and Agnes Gomes of Grand Island. J. Michael and Lorraine McLaughlin of Sutton are parents of the prospective groom.

Miss Gomes graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic in 1995. She received a bachelor of science in psychological services and human development from Northwestern University at Chicago in 1999. In 2002, she received a master's in public health from Emory University. Upon receiving her doctor of medicine degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2006, she became a resident in otolaryngolgy/head and neck surgery, at the New England Medical Center in Boston.

McLaughlin is a 1996 graduate of Sutton High School. He received a bachelor of science in biology from Nebraska Wesleyan University at Lincoln in 2000. He also received his doctor of medicine degree from UNMC in 2006. He is a second year resident in neurology at Brown University in Rhode Island.
