About 400 students from 15 high schools participated in the District IX Agriculture Education Contest Feb. 18 at Central Community College-Grand Island.

Participating high schools were Anselmo-Merna, Ansley, Broken Bow, Burwell, Elba, Greeley-Wolbach, Loup City, Loup County in Taylor, North Loup-Scotia, Ord, Sandhills in Dunning, Sargent, St. Paul, Sumner-Eddyville-Miller and Wheeler Central in Bartlett.

Top teams in each event received a plaque and became eligible to compete in the State Agriculture Education Contest. Students also were judged in and received ribbons for individual competition.

* Agriscience: Wheeler Central, first; Sargent Team No.1, second; and Sargent Team No. 2 and St. Paul, third (tie).

* Ag sales: Broken Bow, first; Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, second; and St. Paul, third.

* Floriculture: Sargent, first; Loup County, second; Ord, third and Ansley, fourth.
