Valeria de Paula and Jonathan Hamner
Valeria Maria de Paula of Obera, Misiones, Argentina, and Jonathan Christopher Hamner of Grand Island were united in a civil wedding ceremony Sept. 28, 2007. The ceremony was officiated by Marta Gutierrez, Justice of the Peace. A religious wedding ceremony was conducted on Dec. 29, 2007, at Parroquia Luterana "Olaus Petri" (Swedish Lutheran Church) in Obera. Pastor Clovis Kurtz and Vicar Joshua Ebener officiated.
Parents of the bride are Carlos de Paula and Maria Elena Bondarenco de de Paula of Obera. Charles and Devon Hamner of Grand Island are parents of the groom.
Jonathan's grandfather, Earl Schulz of Elk Point, S.D., was an honored guest and read the scripture at the religious wedding ceremony.
Receptions at the Casa Ucraniana (Ukrainian House) at the Parque de las Naciones in Obera followed the ceremonies.
The bride received a profesora de Ings (teacher of English as a foreign language) from Instituto Privado Carlos Linneo. She is an English teacher in Obera.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Grand Island Senior High. He received a bachelor of arts in religion-philosophy and youth and family ministry from Midland Lutheran College at Fremont in May 2007. He is doing mission work in Argentina. When the couple returns to the United States, Jonathan plans to attend seminary.
