CCC-Hastings Earth Day Artistic Competition deadline approaching

The submission deadline for the Earth Day Artistic Competition at Central Community College-Hastings is Friday.

There are three categories: one for CCC students who are enrolled at least half-time; one for students in kindergarten through the 12th grade at any public or private Nebraska school; and one for Nebraska residents of any age.

The theme is "America: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." Prizes will be given for the best short story, poetry, poster, photography, short film, painting/watercolor/sketch and cartoon entries in each category.

The prizes, which will be donated by local businesses, will be awarded on April 22 at the CCC Earth Day Celebration.

Entries must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Friday to Jannelle Siem in the Adams Building at CCC-Hastings. For contest rules, deadlines and entry forms, go to the college's Web site at www.cccneb.edu/events.

Emergency medical services workshop to be offered in Grand Island

The Emergency Medical Services Program of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will offer a workshop on "Obstetrics and Gynecological Emergencies" to emergency medical technicians and first responders to be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday at the St. Francis Memorial Building, 2116 W. Faidley.
