A teen charged in a bar shooting that occurred while she was out of jail on a bond in a murder case must return to court next week for a bond review.
Amanda M. Weddle, 19, is charged with being an accessory to a felony for a Jan. 25 shooting at El Tabares. She's also charged with aiding and abetting first-degree murder for the Aug. 12, 2007, death of Faud Osman.
She was arraigned on the shooting charge Wednesday in Hall County Court. A preliminary hearing was set for 9 a.m. May 1.
Weddle said she isn't currently employed, so a local attorney was appointed to represent her.
Officers believe Weddle was in a vehicle outside of the bar at 106 W. Fourth St., when her brother, Jacob Weddle, 22; Gabriel T. Carson, 31; and Keith Raker, 20, went inside and Carson fired a handgun.
The men had gone to Jacob Weddle's home, where he retrieved the gun, and planned to shoot Ricardo "Rico" Aguilar because he had taken some money from them for drugs and then refused to give them drugs or return the cash, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.
One of the two bullets fired struck two bystanders who were seated at the bar. Both people were treated at St. Francis Medical Center and released, according to police.
Carson is charged with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, second degree assault and three counts of using a weapon to commit a felony. Jacob Weddle and Raker are each charged with aiding and abetting attempted first-degree murder.
All three cases are pending in Hall County Court.
At the time of the shooting, Amanda Weddle was out of jail on her own recognizance. She had agreed to testify against her murder case co-defendants, Jennifer Ehlers and John Zechmann. In exchange, she was released and was ordered to live with her uncle in Palmer.
On Wednesday, the bond was modified so she could live with her father in St. Paul. She is scheduled to return to court for a bond review in both cases at 1:30 p.m. March 12.
She was arrested after Osman was found dead near a county road. He died of a skull fracture and a gunshot wound to the back, according to authorities.
Zechmann, 21, is charged with first-degree murder and using a weapon to commit a felony. He's being treated at the Lincoln Regional Center until he is ruled competent to stand trial.
Ehlers, 20, is charged with being an accessory to a felony and is awaiting trial.
