The Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program has announced a funding allocation to Hall County.

Funding of $20,426 will be used to supplement and extend food and shelter services.

Organizations that provide emergency food and shelter services may apply for these funds. Eligible organizations must have nonprofit status, have an accounting system, provide emergency food and shelter services, have a voluntary board, have an independent audit and have a federal employer identification number.

Funds must be used to supplement and expand the work of local social service agencies in an effort to help people with economic emergencies. However, the funds can't be used for disaster-related emergencies.

A local board consisting of representatives from the Ministerial Association, Red Cross, Catholic Charities, Salvation Army, United Way and a representative serving the homeless will determine the distribution of funds.

Any organization interested in applying should call Cheryl Holcomb at (308) 745-0780, extension 120, at Central Nebraska Community Services for more information. Deadline for submission of an application will be 5 p.m. March 19.
