AARP #635

The AARP Chapter No. 635 met Feb. 19 at the Grand Generation Center with a potluck dinner. Entertainment for the evening was a fun musical group "Grandmothers on the Go." The group consisted of Betty Schirmer, Peg Vansant, Jeannette Schmidt and Teressa Franken.

Members will bring canned goods to the March meeting to be donated to the food pantry.

The next meeting will be March 18 at the Grand Generation Center.

Elks Ladies Cards

The Elks Ladies Cards were played Feb. 21 at the Elks Club. Door prizes went to Irene Pearce, Alberta Harder, Irene Pelican, Betty McMullen and Genevieve Koziol.

Bridge winners were Venus Kriski and Della Klingman. Pinochle winners were Alberta Harder and Evelyn Placzek. Pitch winners were Gloria Tagge, Gloria Enyeart, Norma Jakob, Irene Pearce, Delavon Herrold and Evelyn Starkey.

The next card party will be at 1 p.m. March 20 at the club.

Liederkranz Ladies Society

The Liederkranz Ladies Society met Feb. 13 at the Liederkranz Club. Hostesses for the lunch was Mary Olson, Joan Head and Eleanor Ruge. Door prize winners were Evelyn Starkey, Marjorie Klein and Eileen Stuart. Special prize was won by Coralee Howell.

Pinochle high was won by Dorothy Lemburg and low was won by Peg Vansant. Contact bridge high Kathy Sass, second Merilyn Andrews, third Anne Jones, fourth Donna Fredrich, low Marge Johnson.

Pitch high Pauline McCleery, second Evelyn Starkey, third Donna Titman, low Jean Stalhaker.

The next meeting will be at noon March 12 at the Liederkranz Club.

BPO Does #147

President Kathy Vowers presided over the Feb. 27 meeting of the Does #147. The initiation ceremony was held for Mila De-Kok and she was presented a red rose.

Drove members are asked to continue to save Best Choice labels.

Kay Sterling, Good of the Order Chair, awarded door prizes to Jan Shafer and Kathy Vowers. Lunch was served by Joyce Hodtwalker and Helen Smith, who served ice cream and birthday cake in honor of President Kathy's January birthday. The group presented the honoree with a card and gift certificate.

The next meeting is March 12, a social meeting is being planned for March 26, the Does Round-Up is March 29, and the Elks and Does Day at Fonner Park Races is April 6.

Catholic Daughters Court Queen of Peace #2227

The Catholic Daughters Court Queen of Peace #2227 met on Feb. 12 at Blessed Sacrament for a potluck lunch after attending the 12:05 mass. Meeting was called to order by Regent Dorothy Woltman. Marie Zoucha and Margaret Sigler were substitute officers. Members signed a petition to have E.W.T.N. on basic cable.

Bernadine Fergusen reported on giving 200 rosaries to Deb Wetzel C.L.C. director at Blessed Sacrament for the Religious Ed. and R.C.I.A. programs. "Jesus, the Light of the World" and "People who Light up My World" are the two themes for the Education Contest for this year. A donation to Birthright was made by the court. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 21 at Blessed Sacrament.

Delegates for the National C.D.A. convention are Vianne Colgan and Michelle Oldham which will be held July 16 through July 20 in Albuquerque, N.M. The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 11 in Room 12 at Blessed Sacrament. The Rosary will be recited. Jo Schlater will have a Book Table available and will speak about them.

Gabby Group FCE

The Gabby Group met at the home of Mae Lenners on Feb. 12 with ten members present. FCE Fun Day on Feb. 7 was attended by Jackie Pollock, Mae Lenners and LaDonna Halstead and they give a report on the days activities.

Spring Council meeting is at 1 p.m. April 7. Bring the heritage skills entries to the next meeting so they can be taken to the council meeting.

Jean Pollock and Evie Laub are working on compiling the history of the club, as the club will be celebrating their 40th anniversary this fall.

Bob Lenners gave an interesting lesson on the wood carvings that he does and displayed the many things that he has carved.

The next meeting is on March 11 at Mary Micek's home. Jackie Pollock and Nancy Underwood will present the lesson on bone health, with Marcia Dunn as speaker. Everyone is to bring three items for the food pantry.

Alpha Sigma Sorority

Alpha Sigma Sorority, a chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, met March 3 at Cavalry Lutheran Church in Grand Island with 17 members present.

A review of the Daffodil Sales event for the American Cancer Society was given and it was estimated that sales from the group this year were $6,400.

The ladies are planning the annual Spring Style Show on April 21 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Proceeds from the event go to St. Judes. Fashions from CJ Banks, Christopher Banks, Sears, and the Bridal Collection will be featured. For tickets, contact any Alpha Sigma member.

The ladies are also planning a potluck dinner for March 17. They will also make tray favors for May Day for the Veterans Home.

The next meeting will be April 4 at Cavalry Lutheran Church.
