The Associated Press

STILLWATER, Okla. ‹ Iowa State crowned four individual champions en route to winning the Big 12 Conference wrestling tournament on Saturday.

The Cyclones finished with 75.5 points, 13 ahead of second-place Nebraska. Oklahoma State was third at 52.5, followed by Missouri with 49.5 and Oklahoma with 24.

Only one wrestler won by more than a decision in the championship matches Jordan Burroughs of Nebraska, who posted a 15-6 major decision over Mitch Mueller of Iowa State at 149 pounds. For his performance, Burroughs was named the outstanding wrestler of the meet.

Burroughs was one of three Cornhuskers to win individual titles, along with Paul Donahoe at 125 pounds and Brandon Browne at 174 pounds.

Stephen Dwyer (165) and Craig Brester (197) both turned in second-place finishes for Nebraska. Kenny Jordan (133), Mike Rowe (141), Chris Oliver (157) and Jon May (heavyweight) all placed fourth for the Huskers, while Vince Jones (184) ended fifth.

Iowa State's four champions were Nick Fanthorpe at 133 pounds, Nick Gallick at 141 pounds, Cyler Sanderson at 157 pounds and Jake Varner at 184 pounds.

Gallick defeated Oklahoma State's Nathan Morgan 3-1, denying Morgan's attempt to become only the fifth wrestler ever to win four Big 12 titles.

The top-ranked Varner moved his season record to 25-0, beating Oklahoma State's Jack Jensen 2-1 and Oklahoma's Joshua Weitzel 4-1.

Missouri's Nicholas Marable and Max Askren picked up titles at 165 and 197 pounds, respectively, while Oklahoma State's lone champion was 285-pounder Jake Rosholt.

The Cornhuskers will next compete in the NCAA Championships March 20-22 at St. Louis. ESPN will televise the finals on March 22.
