HASTINGS

National Weather Service to hold spotter training

The National Weather Service in Hastings will be hosting spotter training in its area counties over the next two months.

The course is free and open to the public. It includes information on severe storm formation and how to prepare for and report severe weather.

All meetings will be held at 7 p.m., except for Howard County's, which will be at 8 p.m.

Following is a list of the area's meetings:

* Hamilton County, March 17, Aurora Fire Station

* Merrick County, March 18, Chapman Fire Hall

* Valley County, March 18, Ord Fire Hall

* Greeley County, March 25, Greeley County Courthouse

* Polk County, April 2, Polk Fire Hall

* Hall County, April 3, Grand Island City Council Chambers at City Hall

* Adams County, April 7, Hastings Police Department Auditorium

* Howard County, April 15, St. Libory Fire Hall.

* CENTRAL CITY

Emergency medical services workshop to be offered

The Emergency Medical Services Program of the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services will offer a workshop, "Burned Out or Bummed Out," for emergency medical technicians and first responders from 7 to 10 p.m. March 17 at the Central City Community Room, 1515 17th St.

The workshop is worth three continuing education hours. For more information, contact Julie Smithson, South Central Nebraska emergency medical specialist, at 1-888-466-0669.
