Abbie and Jaymes Vialpando
St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wood River was the setting of the Dec. 8, 2007, wedding of Abbie Powell and Jaymes Vialpando, both of Wood River. Father Ray Kosmicki performed the ceremony.
Parents of the bride are Steve and Kathy Powell of Grand Island. Arnold and Sheri Vialpando of Wood River are parents of the groom. Jim Smith was honorary parent.
Katie Burg of Kearney was matron of honor. The bride's other attendants were Heather Scheel, Heather Miller, Beth Lucas and Lindsay Davis. Amy Bombeck and Sarah Springer were personal attendants.
Best man was Matt Scheel of Grand Island. Travis Miller, Mark Engelker, Danny Powell and Matt Hawley were groomsmen. Ushers were Pat Bittner, Jamie Morgan, Jestin Summers, J.D. Henderson and Jeff Springer.
Junior groomsman was Dakota Miller; candlelighters and junior groomsmen were Tyson Miller and Jayden Miller.
Breanna Engelker was flower girl and Evan Skalka was ringbearer.
Music was provided by pianist Deb Scheel and vocalist Nate Miller. Attending the guest book were Addie Voss, Megan Lindell and Kayla Lindell.
Special guests were Maxine Livingston and Virgil and Donna Powell, grandparents of the bride, and Frank and Mildred Maly, grandparents of the groom. Bessie Vialpando, grandmother of the groom, was unable to attend.
A reception at the Platt Duetsche followed the ceremony. The couple live in Wood River and enjoyed a honeymoon trip to Jamaica in February.
The bride graduated from Wood River Rural High School in 2003. She received a degree in business administration/accounting from Southeast Community College at Lincoln. She is a secretary for Robert's Pump & Supply.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of WRRHS. He is a press operator for Hornady Mfg.
