The art exhibit "Afro Psalms," currently showing at the library, features the collaboration of illustrator Grant Reynard, a Grand Island native, with Fort's modern verse.

Fort has 12 books of poetry published, and his work has appeared in "The Best American Poetry." He has won several literary awards.
