The event is scheduled for April 26 at the Grand Island Public Library's large meeting room.

Any corporation or business interested in being a part of the event is invited to get a team together and get registered. There is a $100 registration fee.

In the past, Principal Financial, St. Francis Medical Center, Hornady Manufacturing, and various banks have participated in the event.

"Most have been adult spellers, though we've had some teenagers. Usually we see about 12 teams," Jane Mitchell of the Literacy Council said.

Spectators are welcome to come support their favorite teams.

Proceeds from this event will go to help the Literacy Council with various reading programs such as "Reading Horizons," a phonics computer program.
