The Shrine Circus will perform twice at the Heartland Events Center on Tuesday, March 18.

The first performance is at 4 p.m., with the second at 7:30 p.m.

The Shrine Circus will be the largest one that has ever performed in Grand Island.

Bruce Swihart of Fonner Park said the date of the circus was moved to March to put Grand Island on a different circuit when the circus has more acts. The show in Grand Island is the same circus that will have just finished a series of performances in Lincoln.

The circus is sponsored by the Central Nebraska Shrine Club, with proceeds from the show going to support the organization's activities.

Adult ticket prices are $8 in advance, with high school student ticket prices $6 in advance. All children 12 and under are admitted free. Tickets may be purchased at Skagway South.

Tickets at the door increase to $10 for adults and $8 for students.

The Shriners will be holding a special clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 28, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island where children will be evaluated by a medical specialist. If your child is age 17 or younger and has a problem that affects their bones, muscles or joints, people are asked to make an appointment to visit.

Second opinions also will be available at the clinic.

People may call (402) 462-5813 or (800) 836-0433 for an appointment.

Examples of conditions that will be evaluated and which might be treated include cerebral palsy, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, spina bifida and myelodpysplasia, post-traumatic deformities, plastic surgery and burn scars, rickets, spine deformities and scoliosis, and sports injuries.

Other examples include arthogryposis and stiff joints. They also include deformities of the arm, hand, foot and leg, as well as other deformities, missing limbs and limbs that are different in length.
