Trinity Lutheran School will be selling flowers and vegetable plants to raise money for a new school bus.

Orders will be taken until April 8 from any Trinity Lutheran School student or call the school office at 384-5474. Varieties, descriptions and pictures of plant and vegetable selections are available on the website at www.janetsjungle.com.

Plants can be picked up at Trinity Lutheran school gymnasium between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. April 25, or from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 26. Pre-ordered plants not picked up by noon on April 26 will be available on a first come, first serve basis from noon to 3 p.m.

Easter Bunny to visit Boelus Saturday

The Easter Bunny will be at the park in Boelus at 1 p.m. this Saturday.

The free event will include candy, prizes and eggs for everyone. Attendees are asked to bring a camera for pictures with the bunny and baskets to put eggs and candy in.

The event's rain date will be at 1 p.m. March 22. For more information or to volunteer to help, call Kathy Brokaw at (308) 996-4316.

Dubas to speak, take questions at meeting in Genoa

State Sen. Annette Dubas will hold the third of six town hall meetings in her district from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Pawnee Senior Center in Genoa.

Residents of the 34th Legislative District and media are welcome to attend the one-hour informal gathering. Dubas will briefly speak about her legislation and then will take questions from those in attendance.

Fundraiser to feature karaoke contest tonight

The Nebraska Country Music Foundation will sponsor an open-category karaoke talent contest at 7 p.m. tonight at the Hastings Eagles Club. Entry fee is $5 per person.

The contest is a fundraiser for the Nebraska Country Music Festival. The evening will feature music, prizes and a raffle. First- and second-place winners of this competition will be entered in the finals competition later this year.

State Patrol Prepares for St. Patrick's Day Traffic

The Nebraska State Patrol is planning special enforcement efforts for St. Patrick's Day.

Extra troopers will be on patrol throughout the state in an effort to crack down on incidents of drinking and driving, and to reduce the potential for alcohol related crashes, according to a press release from the State Patrol.

The release also gave the following information:

Troopers will put in 118 hours of overtime beginning Friday and ending Monday. The special enforcement effort is paid for, in part, with a $6,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.

Special enforcement efforts will include saturation patrols, multi-agency sobriety checkpoints and DUI selectives.
