Hall County Judge David Bush has been named county court presiding judge of the 9th Judicial District.

The Nebraska Supreme Court has approved Bush's nomination. His name was submitted by his fellow county court judges for the leadership position.

The 9th Judicial District includes Hall and Buffalo counties. In addition to Bush, there are three other judges, Hall County Judge Philip Martin and Buffalo County Judges Graten Beavers and Gerald Jorgensen.

Bush became a county court judge in Hall County in December 1987. He is an active member of the Nebraska County Judges Association, where he has served on various committees.

As presiding judge, Bush has primary responsibility for overseeing the delivery of county court services within his judicial district. He will also serve as the liaison to other agencies of local and state government for the courts of the district, to the Nebraska State Bar Association and the press.

Presiding judges also bear the responsibility for overseeing personnel matters for the district and provide county courts in the area with direction in matters of local district policy.

Bush said he has previously been presiding judge, which is a management position within the district. The judges meet quarterly to discuss issues in their district, such as caseloads and the new docket system, he said.
