Man arrested with marijuana on I-80 among Central Nebraskans up for parole

A California man convicted in Hall County of possessing 100 pounds of marijuana on Interstate 80 is among the people with Central Nebraska ties up for parole this month.

Khanh Lai, 38, of San Jose, Calif., was convicted of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver. He was arrested in December 2005 with the drugs in a rented sports utility vehicle.

Lai was driving the vehicle and was stopped by a Nebraska State Patrol trooper for following the vehicle in front of him too closely, according to the patrol.

The marijuana was found in luggage in the back of the vehicle, according to the patrol.

Lai's passenger, Tan Lu Do Le, 29, was also convicted of possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver. He was released on parole on Dec. 31, 2007, after serving just over a year in prison.

Lai was sentenced in November 2006 to one year, eight months to three years, four months in prison. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 27 at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln.

Other Central Nebraskans up for parole are:

* Thomas L. Friedrichsen was convicted of burglary in Hall County. He was sentenced in February 2007 to one year, six months to three years, four months in prison. His hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution.

* Tracy Adkins was sentenced to one year, six months to four years, two months in prison for third-degree assault and possession of methamphetamine. She was sentenced in December 2006 in Hall County. Her hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women in York.

* Travis R. Chisholm was sentenced in Hall County to 10 to 20 months in prison for possession of meth. He was sentenced in September 2007. His hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 24 at the Omaha Correctional Center.

* Alex H. Solis was convicted of delivery of meth in Hall County. He was sentenced in September 2007 to one year, eight months to three years, four months in prison. His hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 24 at the Omaha Correctional Center.

* Carl E. Tobin was convicted of possession of meth and tampering with evidence. He was sentenced in September 2007 to 10 to 20 months in prison. His hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 24 at the Omaha Correctional Center.

* Travis A. Fielder was sentenced in July 2006 to two years, six months to four years, two months in prison for possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute in Hamilton County, and for theft by unlawful taking and burglary in Nance County. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 26 at the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln.

* Judith Pecot was convicted of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute in Hamilton County. She was sentenced in March 2007 to one year, eight months to three years, four months in prison. Her hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 26 at the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln.

* James M. Shumate was convicted in Buffalo County of criminal non-support. He was sentenced in October 2007 to 10 to 30 months in prison. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 26 at the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln.

* Tanya Stuart was sentenced in April 2006 to one year, six months to four years, two months in prison. She was convicted of second-degree forgery in Merrick County and possession of meth in Adams County. Her hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 26 at the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln.

* Joshua R. Vandemark was sentenced in July 2007 to 10 to 20 months in prison. He was convicted in Hall County of second-degree assault and third-degree assault. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 26 at the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln.

* Carlos Ponce was convicted of operating a vehicle to avoid arrest, theft by unlawful taking and robbery in Hall County. He was sentenced in June 2007 to three years, four months to five years in prison. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 31 at the Lincoln Correctional Center.

* Austin Roper was convicted of theft by unlawful taking in Hall County and second-degree forgery and theft by unlawful taking in Lancaster County. He was sentenced in October 2006 to three years to six years, four months in prison. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 31 at the Lincoln Correctional Center.

* Lynie M. Chanthavong was sentenced in March 2007 to one year, eight months to three years, four months in prison for burglary in Hall County. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 31 at the Lincoln Correctional Center.

* William J. Beiermann was convicted of two counts of second-degree forgery in Boone County and burglary in Frontier County. He was sentenced in February 2007 to two years, four months to five years, 10 months in prison. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 31 at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln.

* Scott Carson was convicted of possession of meth with the intent to deliver in Hall County. He was sentenced in July 2005 to five years to eight years, four months in prison. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 31 at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln.

* Shawn Allen Spooner was sentenced in June 2004 to five years to eight years, four months in prison. He was convicted of burglary and possession of burglar's tools in Adams County. His hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. March 31 at the Nebraska State Penitentiary in Lincoln.
