If you are struggling to get all of your eggs in one basket, today is your lucky day. The annual Easter Basket Extravaganza is today from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Conestoga Mall. This annual fundraiser is the biggest of the year for Project Hunger and it needs the support of the community. Hundreds of lavishly decorated baskets will be loaded with items, coupons and merchandise from area merchants. The public is allowed to bid on the items throughout the event. It is a fun way to spend an hour and support a genuinely needed non-profit group. Jay Wren is the event coordinator and has done a marvelous job of organizing the baskets and specialty items.

Those who enjoy animals and art should hustle to Prairie Winds Art Gallery during March to see the stunning sculpture of local educator and artist Doug Jensen. He offers viewers a remarkable collection of bronze sculptures of Doberman dogs. Jensen is a highly respected Doberman expert who has judged Doberman shows across the globe. The sculptures are an extension of his love of this often misunderstood breed. The sleek figures are somewhat mesmerizing and worth the trek to downtown Grand Island. It is another testament to the talented populace that grace the plains. Jensen's work is certainly worthy of any gallery in the nation.
