KEARNEY Nick Dineen propelled Sioux Falls to a 4-2 victory over Tri-City on Friday.
Dineen broke a 2-2 tie by scoring an unassisted shorthanded goal at 5 minutes, 45 seconds of the third period. He added an empty-netter with one second left in the game.
The Stampede (28-17-6) took a 2-0 lead on goals by Robbie Vrolyk and Jake Hansen in the first period.
Tri-City (21-29-2) answered back in the second. Josh Berge scored at 9:23 and Mario Lamoureux tied it up off an Alex Hudson assist at 11:03.
Eric Hartzell made 24 saves for Sioux Falls. Aaron Rock had 29 stops for the Storm, who host Des Moines in a 3:05 p.m. matinee game today.
Thanks to Sioux City's 3-0 loss to Cedar Rapids, Tri-City remained mathematically alive for the Clark Cup Playoffs. One more regulation loss or one Sioux City would end that chance.
