Melvin G. "Andy" and Lois M. (Bentley) Emde were married March 13, 1948, at the courthouse in Neligh, Neb. Friends of the couple, Howard and Joann Mickelson, stood up with them.
During their married life, they have lived in Omaha, O'Neill, Bartlett, Broken Bow and Chambers, Nebraska, making Grand Island their home in 1957.
They are blessed to have their family reside in Grand Island. The family includes a son and daughter, with spouses: Larry and Laura Emde and Linda and Terry Leitschuck. There are five grandchildren and spouses: Angela Alexander, Larry and Roxy Emde, David and Jessica Emde, Tammy Emde and Mike Rodenbaugh, and Travis and Jennifer Leitschuck. There are 13 great-grandchildren.
From the family, thank you mom and dad, grandpa and grandma for showing us what 60 years of commitment can be. Thank you for showing us support and understanding. Your love is a treasure for all of us, and we love you.
The family had a private celebration.
