The Howard County Handi-Bus and the Howard County Sheriff's Department had a run-in literally.

Vehicles for both organizations collided at the intersection of Ninth and J in St. Paul Friday afternoon, according to St. Paul Police Chief Steve Studnicka.

"The handi-bus was driving north on Ninth and the deputy was west on J," Studnicka said. "The handi-bus failed to yield to the deputy."

Studnicka said both drivers suffered minor injuries.

Deputy Tim McConnell injured his head. Bus driver Lyle Rasmussen injured his hand.

There were no passengers on the handi-bus at the time of the accident, the police chief said.

The patrol car was totaled, while the handi-bus had about $6,000 worth of damage, Studnicka said.
