A Grand Island motorist was forced off Interstate 80 Sunday afternoon, causing her SUV to roll and her passenger to be thrown from the vehicle.
Diane S. Beal, 40, of 607 Roush Lane was headed westbound near the Alda interchange when a small gray car forced Beal's 2004 white, Chevrolet Blazer off the road, said trooper Andy Allen of the Nebraska State Patrol.
"She lost control and rolled it into the median," he said.
Allen said the SUV rolled at least one and a half to two and a half times, coming to rest on its roof. The accident happened at about 12:45 p.m.
Beal was treated and released from St. Francis Medical Center. She told troopers she was wearing a seat belt.
Her front seat passenger, 32-year-old Rachel R. Dvorak, was thrown from the SUV. Dvorak's address was unknown, Allen said.
Dvorak was also taken to St. Francis with chest and back injuries. She was transferred to another hospital in fair condition.
A girl in the back seat of the SUV was also taken to St. Francis, where she was treated and released.
Allen said law officers had no other information about the gray car. Neither the victims nor the witnesses could give a license plate number for the gray car.
