NU-Texas Tech contest to be broadcast on NET1
LINCOLN Making the trek north from Lubbock, the Texas Tech Red Raiders take to Hawks Field at Haymarket Park in Lincoln to face Mike Anderson's Huskers when "Nebraska Baseball" airs live at 2 p.m. April 5 on NET1 and in high-definition on NET-HD.
Calling the play-by-play action between the two Big 12 Conference foes will be sportscaster Larry Punteney, with Adrian Fiala providing color commentary.
The Texas Tech vs. Nebraska broadcast is the first of a nine-game collegiate baseball/softball series on NET Television this spring.
HC ranked seventh in latest NAIA Region III poll
Hastings College has been ranked No. 7 in the first Region III ratings sent out by the NAIA Region III Information Director. The Broncos join five other GPAC teams in the rankings. The Broncos are currently 7-14 and will start GPAC action when they host Northwestern College at 2 p.m. Friday at Duncan Field in Hastings.

HC's Ducey, Broekmeier named NAIA All-Americans
Hastings College sophomore Lindsay Ducey and junior Kay Broekemeier have been named 2008 NAIA All-Americans in a release sent out by the NAIA office. Ducey, a 6-0 sophomore from Omaha, has been honored as a First Team All-American while Broekemeier 5-8 guard has been named Third Team All-American. Both were selections on the GPAC First Team as well.
Ducey averaged 18 points per game which ranked her second in the GPAC and 6.5 rebounds per game putting her 12th in the conference. Ducey was third in the GPAC in free-throw percentage with 81 percent and fourth in field-goal percentage with 57 percent. Ducey had 26 assists on the year and 32 blocks which put her 12th in the conference.
Broekemeier averaged 12.6 points per game putting her 12th in the GPAC and 5.3 rebounds per game. She averaged 78 percent from the free-throw line and 41 percent from the floor. Broekemeier was 11th in the conference in 3-point percentage with 38 percent and fifth in the GPAC in 3-pointers made. Kay was 12th in steals with 69 and also dished out 69 assists this season for the Broncos.
Hastings (30-6) advanced to the NAIA Final Four for the fifth time in school history.
HC women place seven on NAIA scholar athlete list
Hastings College has placed seven student-athletes on the NAIA Daktronics Women's Basketball Scholar Athlete List. Head Coach Tony Hobson had seven student-athletes that were candidates for the honor and all seven were selected for their continued efforts and success in the classroom.
Those honored were Rachel VanKirk, Kay Broekmeier, Sarah Cambridge, Maggie Schmaderer, Amber Kulus, Breanna Lien and Haruka Yamashita.
Over 220 division II women's basketball players from across the country have been named 2008 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Student-athletes must be nominated by their head coach, have achieved junior academic status and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

Broncos drop two games at Tucson Invitational
Hastings College dropped a pair of games at the Tucson Invitational late Tuesday night.
In game one, the Broncos fell 9-1 to Cardinal Stritch as Stacey Paladino was on the mound for the Broncos. In game two Hastings fell 9-1 to Lubbock Christian with Chelsey Woodside pitching for the Lady Broncos.
Hastings (9-7) was scheduled to play the No.1-ranked California Baptist and Waldorf College on Wednesday.

HC men drop three matches in Florida
Hastings College dropped three matches Tuesday in Stuart, Florida. The Broncos faced Division I, Division II and Division III teams on the day.
The Broncos first match was against Division II McMurrary State as the Broncos fell 9-0. Hastings then faced Division I Liberty University, falling 9-0. In the last match of the day Hastings fell 5-4 to Division III Endicott. The men will have a day off on Wednesday and head back to the court on Thursday against Palm Beach Atlantic.
On the women's side, Hastings College went 1-1 in their first day in Stuart, Florida. The Broncos defeated Division II McMurray State, 7-2 and fell 9-0 to Division I Liberty University. On Wednesday, the Broncos fell 9-0 to Division II Missouri Southern State.

Hastings men take first at Central Christian Invite
The Bronco men's golf team placed first and the JV team third at the Central Christian College Spring Invitational earlier this week in McPherson , Kan.
The varsity team won the eight-team invite with a two-day total of 579 and the junior varsity had a two-day total of 615. It was the first invite win for the varsity men since 2003.
Three Broncos were among the top five medalists honored for the event. Junior Robert Shannon shot a 71/70 for a 141 to finish second, one stroke behind the overall medalist from Seminole (Okla.) College. Junior Brian Primavera finished fourth overall at 145 and freshman Will Logsdon finished fifth at 146.

Storm to honor UNK title team on Family Night
KEARNEY The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League announced Wednesday that they will be honoring the University of Nebraska at Kearney's Division II National Champion wrestling team on March 28.
The night will kick off with a pre-game ceremony and puck drop to honor the UNK wrestling team. It is the first team national championship to be won by any UNK team since 1990. The Lopers had two individual national champions in Brett Allgood and Tervel Dlagnev.

Grand Island Northwest's Andrew Mitchell has committed to play baseball next year for York College.

UNK announces changes for baseball, softball
KEARNEY Due to expected poor weather on Saturday, the Nebraska-Kearney baseball and softball schedules for this week have changed.
The UNK baseball team (10-13, 5-7 RMAC ) will now play doubleheaders vs. New Mexico Highlands on Thursday and Friday. On each day, the first game will start at noon and go nine innings. The second game each day will last seven innings.
In softball, the Lopers (7-11, 6-8 RMAC) will play Colorado State-Pueblo in a single game Thursday starting at 5 p.m. On Friday, a rare tripleheader will begin at 11 a.m.
These RMAC series were already moved up a day due to the Easter Holiday.
