Planning to be joined in matrimony on April 5, 2008, at St. Cecilia's in Hastings are Melanie Spilinek and Matthew Rauert of Kearney.

Scott and Cindy Spilinek of Weeping Water are parents of the future bride.

Parents of the prospective groom are Larry and Donna Rauert of Grand Island. He is the grandson of Paul and Carroll Rauert of Grand Island and William and Viola Smith of Carthage, Ill.

Miss Spilinek is a 2003 graduate of Weeping Water High School. She graduated magna cum laude in December 2007 with majors in English and philosophy from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She is a front desk clerk for Holiday Inn Express.

Rauert graduated from Amherst Public School in 2003. He graduated in December 2007 with honors from UNK where he majored in music and history. He works for Barista's Daily Grind as a barista.
